The Role
This role requires an individual to work alongside the onsite Transport Planner, to assist with the daily and strategic Operation of Transport to fulfil all customer demands through all our delivery streams.
We are looking for a result driven individual, who is curious, tenacious, detail orientated and demonstrates leadership skills. Self-motivated and can build rapport at all levels of the business to give clarity of communication, deliver change and support a culture of right first time.
Your Key Responsibilities
The primary function of this role is in the first instance to ensure that all transport administration duties are conducted in a timely and diligent manner (these tasks are denoted **), however a full training plan will be agreed that delivers the correct level of experience and understanding so that this key role can deputise in the transport planner's absence.
Duties of the Transport Assistant and Transport Planner include:
- Liaising with customers**
- Daily data input**
- Helping to rectify any delivery or collection issues**
- Administration of driver tacho graphs**
- Managing fleet service & repair schedule**
- Booking vehicle MOTs**
- Managing driver CPC schedule**
- Meet health & safety legislation commitments within your team**
- Meeting agreed delivery schedule/customer service requirements through effective and efficient planning
- Meeting transport legislation commitments from a planning perspective
- Liaising with the Site Manager to assess the driver and vehicle resource requirements daily to meet the delivery schedule and customer requirements
- Keep updated with technical, legal and training best practice to maintain and improve the transport planning process
- Reflect on own performance and make necessary changes to improve efficiencies within your planning process based on changing circumstances
- Contribute towards the success of the wider Transport team through effective teamwork
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and added value whilst key service levels are not affected
- Ensure the Site provides first class service to all Customers, JFP Stores and Online Customers.
- Promote Company values within the Transport Department to create a good working environment
- Assist in running the Transport Office on a day to day basis
- Deputise for the Transport Planner in their absence
- Coordinating schedules for drivers leaving site and returning to depot
- Play a key role in the safe and timely delivery of customer orders with outstanding customer service
Nature & Scope
- Ensure all vehicles are booked in for MOT and mandatory inspections
- Process vehicle defects
- Manage and maintain the TMS (Truckfile and Vision)
- Work to legal standards of task execution
- Promote company values and ensure all colleagues live the correct values
- Promote a safe working environment, whilst ensuring all employees comply with Health & Safety regulations
- Will act upon and follow up any other reasonable request as identified by senior management

Role
Department: Operations, Gamston
Reports to: Transport Planner
Shift Pattern: TBC but start time between 06:00 and 10:00 Sunday - Friday (37.5 hours per week) flexibility required to meet the needs of the business
Salary: £22,000 - £24,000
