Win Win for Pedigree - A Solution that Cuts Carbon and Saves Fuel
Published: 09/2008
Pedigree wholesale has recently taken delivery of a new tractor and trailer unit which is used for moving its stock between the group’s depots. Not only is this new arrival a striking 40ft mobile billboard promoting Walter Harrisons Garden Friends but is also part of a program to reduce carbon emissions and increase fuel efficiency across the vehicle fleet.
The lightweight trailer has been designed with improved aerodynamics and a twin deck which allows for an increase payload of up to 44 pallets.
The increased payload allows more stock to be carried per trailer and therefore reduce the overall number of journeys made. The twin deck system also removes the requirement for double stacking of pallets which in inevitably reduce damages.
Steve Brown, Managing Director commented: “By investing now in more efficient fleet vehicles we can reduce the impact of future increases in delivery costs to our customers whilst also minimising our effects on the environment. This must be a win win solution.”
